Monday, 27th June
What a memorable day for the 3step Team. We set off to help out at our newest venue, the Ahoy Centre, a charity sailing centre for all people from all walks of life.
Jauntily decorated in
their blue and yellow colours they were preparing for a Royal visit by HRH Princess Anne, to
their blue and yellow colours they were preparing for a Royal visit by HRH Princess Anne, to unveil a name plaque for one of the sailing boats.
All “hands on deck” required to co-ordinate registration, buffet luncheon and drinks throughout the afternoon. We
unloaded all the freshly made sandwiches, generously donated by our catering supplier, Mark Pierson of
Azra Catering and threw ourselves into preparing the buffet platters, working on what must have been THE hottest
day of the year, unless someone had turned the temperature up way too high in the kitchen. We were convinced we
were actually in the oven!
Despite the intense humidity, it was a great afternoon and we thoroughly enjoyed being part of the team of volunteers
and supporters of the Ahoy Centre. Since we were only volunteering on the day it was entirely unexpected that we
would be introduced toHRH Princess Anne, what a surprise and an honour, it was to meet her. We remembered our
curtsies!
